Glechoma hederacea (カキオドシ)

Glechoma hederacea, commonly known as ground-ivy, often occurs on a sunny wayside. We can see lovely small flowers in spring. Once summer comes, however, its stem will fall over and a vine will creep on the ground. Surprisingly, ground-ivy grows to 1 meter in length! This flower is called kakiodoshi in Japanese. This name comes from the fact that it grows so tall that it can cross over a fence (kakine in Japanese).
